GovWorker.co is an independent publication covering federal employee rights, benefits, and workplace protections. We are not affiliated with OPM, AFGE, or any federal agency or union. GovWorker is dedicated to helping federal workers understand their rights during unprecedented workforce reductions. In 2026, over 300,000 federal employees have been separated — the largest reduction since World War II. Many don't know what they're legally entitled to or how to protect themselves.
Federal employment law is complex. FERS pensions, MSPB appeals, severance calculations, and civil service protections differ by status, years of service, and agency. Most workers don't even know they have 30 days to appeal a termination. Our mission is to change that.
What we do: GovWorker publishes clear, actionable guides on federal employee rights, MSPB appeal procedures, FERS pension protections, RIF rules, unemployment benefits, and legal challenges to DOGE layoffs. We focus on accuracy, specificity, and practical next steps — not politics.
How we stay independent: GovWorker is supported by advertising and affiliate relationships with federal employment attorneys, pension advisors, and benefits specialists. However, we do not accept payment for recommendations, and our legal guidance is never influenced by affiliate commission rates. When we recommend an attorney or advisor, it's because we believe they serve your interests.
What we're not: GovWorker is not a law firm, union, or government agency. We provide educational information. Before filing an MSPB appeal, making pension elections, signing severance agreements, or pursuing legal claims, consult with a qualified federal employment attorney.
